Poetry

Over the years people of the parish have generously contributed original poetry for us to include here. There is always room for more, of course, so if you write poetry and are willing to share it, please let us know - either face-to-face or via e-mail:

Community Spirit

Saint Joseph’s community - mixture of old and new,
People moaning, grieving and griping,
there’s nowt here to do.
In the parish they even have the nerve to complain:
“Where’s the youth club, where’s the community spirit?”
though in vain.
But it’s the same old story - nobody wants to know.
Perhaps they’re worried they’ve not got
the confidence to give it a go.
But older members with experience would advise,
even get in on the act.
If we all pull together, aspiration becomes fact.
So, if there are ideas and intentions,
share them with others,
Create a better community, like God’s family,
together as sisters and brothers.
