Webmaster Deacon Mark

Tittle Tattle

“He’s a fool,” they said of Joseph,
When they heard she was with child.
“And an old fool is the worst fool:”
“Mind you, she must be wild!”

But Joseph heard their sniggers
As a lion hears a mouse.
And he took his young and holy bride
And together they set up house.

Well, the neighbours started to gossip
And the neighbours started to grin.
“Well, let them”, murmured Joseph.
He knew she was free from sin.

And when at last in a stable,
God’s Promise came into the light,
Joseph looked up to Heaven,
And he smiled, on that first Holy Night.

And as the years passed quickly
He never forgot the joy
Of that first tremendous moment
When he held his maid-wife’s boy.

Now all your children, Joseph,
Are standing in need of your aid
Help them today with the same strong love
That you gave to a God-kissed maid.
