Saint Joseph’s :: Album :: Poetry

A bedside table with a vase of tulips, a bunch of grapes, a small stack of books and a pill hopper on top.

On The Wards

The chaplain
Lives with the unexpected,
Having no idea what encounter
The Lord has next ordained.

He sends so many scenes.
Mother leaning over daughter:
The elderly patient washing
Her neighbour’s feet.

Such God-filled acts of love.
The greatest wonder always
That the givers feel
They are the ones in need.
